The Dillon Lady Wildcats won 11-7 over the Wilson Lady Tigers in varsity softball action played in Dillon on Tuesday, April 28.
The Lady Wildcats scored 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning and added 2 runs in the bottom of the third inning. Wilson placed a run onto the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning, and Dillon responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth to go up 7-1. Wilson had a good offensive showing in the top of the fifth inning and placed 4 runs onto the scoreboard; Dillon added 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and tacked 2 more runs onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning. Wilson scored 2 runs in the top of the seventh inning.
The Lady Wildcats had 9 hits in the game, and the Lady Tigers had 8 hits. Each team committed 3 errors.
Dillon’s Makeena Meekins had 4 singles, a rbi, and scored 3 runs in her 4 at-bats. Kanyla Tanksley had a triple, 2 walks, a rbi, and scored 3 runs in her 4-plate appearances. Jayla Wright had a double and a single in her 4 at-bats.
The Lady Wildcats’ Makeena Meekins had 3 stolen bases, and Kanyla Tanksley had a stolen base.
Dillon’s Jayla Wright pitched 5 innings and allowed 6 hits, 5 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 5, and struck out 9 of the 27 batters she faced. Zoee Chavis pitched 2 innings and allowed 1 hit, walked 1, struck out 2, and allowed 2 runs of which 1 was earned of the 9 batters she faced.
Dillon will host Marion on Thursday, April 30, at 6:00 p.m.
