The McLeod Health Dillon held the Nursing Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 7, at 2:00 p.m. in the Auxiliary Room.
Landon Simmons, AVP/CNO, welcomed everyone to the program. He thanked the nurses and informed them that “they’re the heart of McLeod Health”. Afterwards, he introduced the guest speaker, Ronald Fowler, the former Chairman of the McLeod Health Board.
Last week, the guest speaker, Ronald Fowler, received “The Order of the Palmetto.”
In the past few months, Mr. Fowler had a quad bypass in McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
The graduate of Wofford gave a very inspiring and heartfelt speech. Although McLeod Health is celebrating 125 years of service, McLeod Health Dillon has enjoyed serving the residents of Dillon County and the surrounding area since St. Eugene Hospital was here. Fowler remarked that the McLeod Health Dillon nurses were “the heartbeat of McLeod Health.” The residents in this area have access to dependable and compassionate health care. The nurses at McLeod Health Dillon are a source of strength, a source of stability, and a source of hope for patients. McLeod Health Dillon still honors St. Eugene Hospital’s legacy of exceptional care. When people think of McLeod Health Dillon, they think of you, the nurses. The nurses inject peace and comfort and listen to the patients and their families. According to Mr. Fowler, the nurses are the first missionaries who proclaim caring from birth throughout. Nurses treat human beings, individuals and not just the illness. Healing is emotional and spiritual.
Integrity is a great quality. It means doing what’s right even when it’s hard. Nurses are accountable, honest, and steadfast. Nurses provide quality and a relentless pursuit of excellence. McLeod Health Dillon nurses deliver quality, safety, hope, and healing. McLeod Health values the nurses. You are the reason quality is at McLeod Health Dillon. Each of our nurses carries forward McLeod’s legacy. McLeod Health Dillon is investing in you every day, but nurses are doing the work. “Thank you, nurses, for a job well done.”
The Lighting of the Nightingale Lamp and the Nightingale Pledge was done by Tammy Lowery, Director of Med. Surg/Peds/ Swing Bed and Niki Hammonds, Director of Surgical Services.
There was a tribute to the McLeod Dillon Nurses winners for the Medical Surgical Technician of the Year who was Tyler Jackson, the Certified Surgical Technologist of the Year who was Jess Jamez, the Nurse of the Year who was Carol McRae, and the Nursing Administrative Supervisor of the Year who was Bonnie Johnson. Each was presented an award.
Landon Simmons, AVP/CNO, announced the Daisy Award Honorees.
CEO Jenny Hardy presented the Palmetto Gold Award Winners.
The Patient Choice Awards were presented by Candice Tyler, SE Process Manager/Patient Representative. The winners were Carol McRae and Shannon A.
The Closing Prayer and the Blessing of the Food was by Landon Simmons, AVP/CNO.
Afterwards, all enjoyed fellowship and refreshments.
