The Hannah-Pamplico Raiders defeated the Latta Vikings 10-2 in the first game of the varsity baseball playoff action held in Latta on Wednesday, May 20.
The Raiders jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning and added 2 runs in the top of the fourth inning. Latta got onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning with 2 runs. In the top of the seventh inning, the Raiders added 6 runs to the scoreboard.
The Raiders connected for 13 hits while holding Latta to 4 hits.
Hannah-Pamplico committed an error, and Latta committed 5 errors.
Hannah-Pamplico’s D. Kimbrough, #7, had a triple, a double, a single, a walk, 2 rbi, and score 3 runs in his 5-plate appearances. J. Fitch had a triple, a single, 3 rbi, scored 2 runs, and stole a base in his 4-plate appearances. D. Chandler had a triple, a single, and a rbi in his 5 at-bats. M. Smith had 2 singles, a rbi, was hit by a pitch, and scored 2 runs in his 5-plate appearances. M. Richardson had a single and 2 rbi in his 5 at-bats. D. Kimbrough, #5, had a single, a walk, and scored a run in his 4-plate appearances. Z. Rhames had a single, was hit by a pitch, and scored a run in his 4-plate appearances. J. Poston had a single and a rbi in his 5 at-bats.
The Raiders’ J. Poston pitches 7 innings and allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs, walked no one, and struck out 7 of the 26 batters he faced.
Latta’s S. Smith had a single and scored a run in his 2 at-bats. L. Huggins had a single in his 3 at-bats. B. Berry (#13) had a single and a rbi in his 3 at-bats. Mason Weatherford had a single and a rbi in his 3 at-bats.
The Vikings’ Logan Byrd pitched 4 innings and allowed 9 hits, 4 earned runs, walked 1, and stuck out 5 of the 23 batters he faced. Noah Cook pitched 3 innings, and allowed 4 hits, 6 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 1, and struck out 5 of the 18 batters he faced.
