The Georgetown Lady Bulldogs defeated the Dillon Lady Wildcats 12-2 in 6 innings in Dillon on Tuesday, March 17.
Georgetown took a 1-0 lead after the first ½ inning of play. A hot grounder to third with an error accounted for the Lady Bulldogs first score.
Dillon responded with a run in the bottom of the first inning to tie the score at 1. Dillon’s leadoff hitter, Makenna Meekins garnered a walk. Meekins stole second and moved to third on a passed ball. K. Tanksley hit a grounder to first and was out but Meekins crossed home plated for the score.
In the top of the second inning, Georgetown scored 5 runs. The Lady Bulldogs got a hit, a walk, a sac fly to score a run, throwing error scored a run, a hit scored 2 runs, and a grounder by third scored a run.
The Lady Wildcats were held scoreless in the bottom of the second inning.
Neither team scored in the third and fourth innings.
In the top of the fifth inning, Georgetown added 3 runs. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Dillon added a run. In the top of the sixth inning, Georgetown added 3 runs. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Dillon added a run to close out the game.
Dillon is 2-4 for the season, and Georgetown is 6-4 for the season.
Dillon will host Waccamaw on Thursday, March 19, for a 6:30 p.m. game. The Lady Wildcats will host West Bladen on Friday, March 20, at 6:00 p.m.
Georgetown will travel to Marlboro County on Friday, March 20, for a 6:00 p.m. game.
