City of Dillon Police Department Makes Arrest In Homicide

The City of Dillon Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a homicide that occurred on Friday, March 13, 2026.
On March 13, 2026, at approximately 8:18 p.m., officers with the Dillon Police Department located a male party that was unresponsive in the area of West Calhoun Street, located within the city limits of Dillon.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim lying on the ground who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley.
Investigators with the Dillon Police Department responded to the scene, where they conducted an extensive investigation. Through investigative efforts, Matthew Lee Scarborough, Jr., age 31, of Dillon, was identified as the suspect in this case.
Scarborough was taken into custody on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, within the city limits of Dillon. He has been charged with Murder, Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and Felon in Possession of a firearm in connection with this case.
The suspect was transported to the Dillon County Detention Center, where he is currently being held pending a bond hearing.
This investigation remains active and ongoing.
