The Lake View Wild Gators defeated the Cheraw Braves 6-2 in varsity baseball action played on Tuesday, April 7.
The Cheraw Braves took an early 1-0 lead after the bottom of the first inning. Lake View tied the score in the top of the third inning with a run. In the top of the fifth inning, Lake View scored 5 runs to take a 6-1 lead. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Braves tacked on a run.
Lake View connected for 4 hits in the game with Byrce King who had double, 2 rbi, and scored a run. Ian Capps also had a double and a rbi. Liam Newell had a single, a walk, and scored 2 runs for the Wild Gators. Chase Price had a single. T. Lovette garnered a walk and scored a run. H. Lee had a sacrifice fly, a walk, 2 rbi, and scored a run.
Lake View committed 1 error in the game.
Lake View’s Bryce King picked up the win. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 6 hits including a home run, allowed 2 earned runs, walked no one, and struck out 5 of the 20 batters he faced.
Cheraw had 6 hits in the game. N. Gordon had a home run, a single, a rbi, and scored a run. C. Poole had 2 singles and scored a run. A. Strong had a single and a rbi. B. Pace had a single. Cheraw left 6 men on base. A. Adams and C. Poole each had a stolen base. Cheraw did not make any errors in the game.
C. Poole took the loss for the Braves. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 4 hits, 6 runs of which 5 were earned, walked 3, and struck out 3 of the 22 batters he faced.
Lake View will host Latta on Tuesday, April 14, at 6:00 p.m.
Cheraw will travel to North Central on Tuesday, April 14, for a 6:30 p.m. game.
