Dillon Wins 1-0 Over Gilbert
The Dillon Lady Wildcats won 1-0 over the Gilbert Lady Indians on Monday, May 13, in the varsity softball playoffs.
Dillon scored in the second inning on a wild pitch.
Paige Sherman picked up the win for the Lady Wildcats. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 3 hits, no runs, struck out 9, and walked no one. Sherman faced only 23 batters in the game.
Ainsley Minchew took the loss for the Lady Indians. She pitched 7 innings and allowed no hits, 1 run, struck out 12, and walked 4. Minchew faced only 27 batters in the game.
The Dillon Wildcats’ A. Lee, M. Bethea, Mariah Campbell, and Makeena Meekins each had a stolen base in the game. The Lady Wildcats also turned a double play plus they did not commit an error.
Gilbert’s A. Minchew, A. Leaphart, and M. Brown each had a hit in 3 at-bats.
Dillon’s Cecelia Grider and Mariah Campbell each garnered a walk in the game while A. Villagomez garnered 2 walks.
