A Historic Preservation Month Proclamation signing was held at the Dillon House on Wednesday, May 6.
The proclamation reads:
WHEREAS, the City of Dillon possesses a rich heritage reflected in its histone buildings neighborhoods, and cultural landscapes that define the character of our community, and property values, and
WHEREAS, the preservation and adaptive reuse of historic structures support sustainable development by conserving resources and maintaining the unique identity of Dillon’s downtown and surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, Dillon’s historic resources provide educational and cultural value, fostering community pride and a deeper understanding of our shared past, and
WHEREAS, Historic Preservation Month, established by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, is observed each May to celebrate and promote the protection of historic places: and
WHEREAS, the City of Dillon recognizes the importance of preserving its historic assets as part of ongoing community revitalization efforts;
NOW, THEREFORE I, Nicholas Tally McColl, Mayor of the City of Dillon, South Carolina, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2026 as
HISTORIC PRESERVATION MONTH
it the City of Dillon and I encourage all citizens to recognize and support the preservation of the historic places that shape our community’s identity.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Dillon, South Carolina to be affixed this 6th day of May 2026.
