The Dillon Lady Wildcats won 9-2 over the Latta Lady Vikings in varsity softball action played in Dillon on Thursday, April 2.
After 1 inning of play, the game was scoreless.
The Lady Wildcats managed to place 3 runs onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning. Latta responded with a run in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Dillon added 4 runs to the scoreboard. Latta tacked a run onto the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning. Dillon responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Dillon’s A. Villagomez had a double, a single, 3 rbi, hit by a pitch, and scored a run. W. Hughes had a triple, a rbi, and scored 2 runs. M. Meekins and Z. Chavis each had a hit.
Dillon’s Jayla Wright picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings, allowed 7 hits, 2 runs of which 1 was earned, walked 4, hit one with a pitch, and struck out 10 of the 36 batters she faced.
The 7-8 Lady Wildcats will travel to Pawley’s Island to face the Waccamaw Lady Warriors on Tuesday, April 14, for a 6:30 p.m. game.
The 4-4 Lady Vikings will travel to Lake View to face the Lady Wild Gators on Tuesday, April 14, at 6:00 p.m.
