The Dillon Lady Wildcats tamed the visiting Marlboro County Lady Bulldogs 67-45 in varsity basketball played in Dillon on Friday, January 16.
Dillon jumped out to a 22-4 lead after the first quarter of play. At halftime, Dillon was up 34-14. Dillon committed 8 fouls in the first half while Marlboro County committed 10 fouls. In the third quarter of play, the Lady Bulldogs outscored Lady Wildcats 20-12, but Dillon was still up by 2 points. Dillon pumped in 21 points in the final quarter while holding Marlboro County to 11 points.
Dillon’s Treasure Davis led all scorers with 32 points. She had six 2-point baskets, five 3-point baskets, and 5 free throws. Khw-Nylahi McKinnon added 24 points to the scoreboard with five 2-point baskets, four 3-point baskets, and 2 free throws. Azyriah Ford had two 2-point baskets for 4 points. Alyssa Lee added a 2-point basket and 2 free throws for 4 points. Jiana McGill connected for a 2-point basket, and Nylann Jones sank a free throw.
Marlboro County’s Shayana White led the Lady Bulldogs with 21 points. She had five 2-point baskets, two 3-point baskets, and 5 free throws. Iyanna Boatwright added 14 points to the scoreboard with four 2-point baskets and 6 free throws. Destiny Ford connected for five 2-point baskets and 3 free throws for 13 points. Le’kajhai Monroe hit two 3-point shots for 6 points. Janasha Sloan sank a free throw.
The 14-2 Dillon Lady Wildcats will host Waccamaw on Tuesday, January 20, at 6:00 p.m. On Friday, January 23, the Lady Wildcats will host Georgetown at 6:00 p.m.
The 5-8 Marlboro County Lady Bulldogs will travel to Loris on Tuesday, January 20, for a 6:00 p.m. game. On Friday, January 23, Marlboro County will host Waccamaw at 6:00 p.m.
