Dillon County residents are invited to participate in the Walk With Pride for a Healthy Life Community Walking Program.
Program Purpose and Community Impact
The Walk With Pride For A Healthy Life Community Walking Program aims to bring together individuals across Dillon County with the shared goal of improving personal health and enhancing the well-being of the entire community.
Health Challenges in Dillon County
Dillon County faces significant public health issues, with chronic diseases being a primary concern. Residents frequently battle conditions such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cancer, HIV, and premature death. Risk factors contributing to these challenges include substance abuse, obesity, mental health concerns, insufficient physical activity, and poor nutrition.
Community Health Rankings
In 2025, Dillon County ranked 45th out of 46 South Carolina counties for overall health and well-being, according to the University of Wisconsin’s Population Health Institute report. This ranking highlights the county’s high rates of chronic illness and premature mortality. Addressing these concerns requires unified community efforts.
