Suspect Captured Following Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation

Chief Monroe Herring and the City of Dillon Police Department is pleased to announce that the suspect involved in the officer-involved shooting that occurred on June 18, 2026, has been taken into custody.

During the morning hours of June 19, 2026, officers with the City of Dillon Police Department located and apprehended the suspect at a residence within the city limits of Dillon. The arrest was made without incident. T

The suspect was wanted in connection with an incident that occurred on June 18, 2026, when officers attempted to apprehend him in the area of East Harrison Street and U.S. Highway 301 North. During that encounter, a City of Dillon Police officer was shot and sustained injuries.

The injured officer remains in good spirits and is expected to make a full recovery. The City of Dillon Police Department is grateful for the overwhelming support, prayers, and well wishes received from the community and our law enforcement partners.

Chief Herring would like to thank the officers of the City of Dillon Police Department, along with assisting law enforcement agencies, Latta Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and Florence County Sheriff T.J. Joye, for their tireless efforts and dedication in locating and apprehending the suspect.

The investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing. Additional charges are anticipated as investigators continue to review the facts and circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The City of Dillon Police Department remains committed to protecting the citizens of Dillon and ensuring that those who commit acts of violence against law enforcement officers and members of our community are held accountable.
