City of Dillon Officer Injured During Attempt to Apprehend Armed Suspect; Suspect Sought

DILLON, S.C. — On June 18, 2026, officers with the City of Dillon Police Department located a wanted subject in the area of East Harrison Street and U.S. Highway 301 North. The subject was wanted in connection with an incident earlier in the day involving the pointing and presenting of a firearm at a local convenience store.
As officers attempted to take the subject into custody, gunfire was exchanged, and a City of Dillon Police officer was struck by gunfire.
The injured officer was immediately transported to McLeod Medical Center – Dillon for treatment. At this time, the officer is in good spirits and is expected to recover from his injuries.
The City of Dillon Police Department, Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is actively investigating the incident and continues to search for the suspect. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

Residents are asked to avoid the area of East Harrison Street and U.S. Highway 301 North while officers process the scene and conduct investigative operations.
