COLUMBIA, S.C. (July 6, 2026) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation will begin replacing the bridge on Cheraw Street (SC-9 Business) over Crooked Creek in Marlboro County beginning Monday, July 13.
As as result, the bridge will be closed to traffic. Detours have been established and are shown in green on the map below.
This project is part of SCDOT’s ongoing commitment to replace and rehabilitate aging bridges across South Carolina to improve safety and reliability for drivers.
Weather permitting, the new bridge is expected to open to traffic in June 2027.
We will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the area.
