Lady Wildcats Defeat Lady Lions 55-17

The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the Loris Lady Lions 55-17 in varsity basketball action played in Dillon on Tuesday, January 27.
The Lady Wildcats controlled the tipoff and scored 12 unanswered points before Loris scored a 2-point basket with 2:24 remaining in the first quarter. Dillon held a commanding 20-2 lead after the first quarter of play. Each team committed only 1 foul in the first quarter.
In the second quarter of play, Dillon added 12 points to the scoreboard while Loris added 4 points. Dillon committed 4 fouls, and Loris committed 5 fouls in the second quarter of play.
In the third quarter of play, the Lady Wildcats connected for 23 points while Loris added 8 points. Dillon committed 2 fouls while Loris committed 4 fouls.
In the final quarter, Dillon did not add any points to the scoreboard, and Loris added 3 points. Dillon committed 1 foul while Loris did not commit a foul.
Dillon’s Treasure Davis led all scorers with 21 points. She had eight 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and 2 free throws. Khw-Nylahi McKinnon scored 19 points. She had eight 2-point baskets and 3 free throws. Jiana McGill placed 9 points onto the scoreboard with three 2-point baskets and 3 free throws. Zynijah Pernell sank a 3-point basket. Nylann Jones added a 2-point basket while Azyriah Ford connected for a free throw.
Loris’ Iyonna Waters led the Lady Lions with 9 points. She had two 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and 2 free throws. Jamiya McLeod added two 2-point baskets for 4 points. Isis Jackson sank a 2-point basket. Layna Hemingway connected for 2 free throws.
Dillon is 17-2 overall and 5-0 and in first place in AAA Region 5. Dillon’s head coach is James McMillian. He is assisted by Michelle Keyes-Gibbons.
Loris will travel to Waccamaw on Friday, January 30, for a 6:00 p.m. game. Loris’ head coach is Douglas Gause. He is assisted by Nicole Stackhouse.
