The Dillon Lady Wildcats returned home on Thursday, February 12, with a 55-43 win over the Marlboro County Lady Bulldogs of Bennettsville.
Marlboro County held a slim 2-point, 9-7, lead over the visiting Dillon Lady Wildcats after the first quarter of play. At halftime, Dillon found themselves down by 3, 22-19.
In the first half of play, Dillon committed 7 fouls while Marlboro County committed 8 fouls.
In the third quarter of play, Dillon’s offense scored 22 points while holding Marlboro County to 8 points. After 3 quarters of play, Dillon was up 11 points, 41-30.
In the final quarter of play, Dillon added 14 points to the scoreboard while Marlboro County placed 13 points onto the scoreboard.
Dillon’s Khw-Nylahi McKinnon and Treasure Davis each had 19 points. McKinnon sank four 2-point baskets, two 3-point baskets, and was five for five at the free throw line. Davis sank six 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and 4 free throws. Azyriah Ford added seven points to the scoreboard with two 2-point baskets and a 3-point basket. Jiana McGill and Zynijah Pernell each had two 2-point baskets for 4 points each. Nylann Jones added a 2-point basket.
Marlboro County’s Serentiy Bethea led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points. She had five 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and a free throw. Jordyn Zimmerman added 10 points to the scoreboard with four 2-point baskets and 2 free throws. Iyanna Boatwright connected for three 2-point baskets and 3 free throws for 9 points. Destiny Ford had three 2-point baskets and a free throw for 7 points. Serenity David added a 3-point basket.
