The Dillon Wildcats edged the Marlboro County Bulldogs 3-2 in varsity baseball action played in Bennettsville on Friday, April 17.
Dillon scored a run in the top of the first inning. Marlboro County answered with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Dillon added 2 runs in the top of the fifth inning to go up 3-1. The Bulldogs scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut Dillon’s lead 3-2.
The Bulldogs connected for 6 hits in the game. Jayden Chavis and Triston Quick each had a double. Quick picked up a rbi. Layton Chavis, Landon Sweat, Cam Hunt, and Tim Sloan each had a single in the game.
Marlboro County’s Landon Sweat and Cam Hunt each had a stolen base.
Marlboro County committed only 1 error in the game.
The Bulldogs’ Triston Quick pitched 7 innings. He allowed 4 hits, 3 runs of which only 1 was earned, walked 3, and struck out 9 of the 30 batters he faced.
