The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the Marlboro County Lady Bulldogs 17-2 in the run-ruled 6-inning game played in Bennettsville on Monday, April 20.
The Lady Wildcats placed a run onto the scoreboard in the top of the first inning that was answered by the Lady Bulldogs with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Neither team could muster a score in the second or third innings. In the top of the fourth inning, Dillon managed 5 runs and added another 5 runs in the top of the fifth inning. Marlboro County scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Wildcats placed 6 runs onto the scoreboard.
Dillon’s Makeena Meekins connected for a double, 2 singles, 3 rbi, and scored 3 runs in her 5 at bats. Zoee Chavis had a triple, a single, a walk, 3 rbi, and scored a run in her 5 plate appearances. Jayla Wright had a double, a single, and 2 rbi. Kanyla Tanksley had 2 singles, a walk, and scored 3 runs. Ansley Villagomez had 2 singles and scored 3 runs. Wanaysia Hughes had a walk, was hit by a pitch, a rbi, and scored 2 runs.
The Dillon Lady Wildcats’ Kanyla Tanksley and Ansley Villagomez each stole 2 bases while Wanaysia Hughes stole a base in the game.
Dillon’s Jayla Wright picked up the win. She pitched 6 innings, allowed 5 hits, 2 earned runs, walked 1, and struck out 12 of the 27 batters she faced.

Marlboro County’s Ava Grooms pitched 4.1 innings and allowed 6 hits, 10 runs of which 1 was earned, walked 2, and struck out 1 of the 28 batter she faced. Autumn Sheppard pitched 1.1 innings and allowed 1 hit, 6 runs of which 1 was earned, and walked 5 of the 13 batters she faced. Brandy Driggers pitched. 1inning and allowed no hits, 1 earned run, and walked 2 for the 4 batters she faced.
