The Johnsonville Lady Flashes returned home on Friday, March 13, with a 17-5, run-ruled 5-inning game played in Lake View.
In the top of the fourth inning, Lake View found themselves down 13-4.
Johnsonville’s #3 garnered a walk to lead off the top of the fourth inning. Johnsonville’s #6 hit a grounder to short and was out at first with the base runner safe at second. The Flashes’ #2 hit 1 down the third base line for a single and a rbi and #2 ended up on second base. Johnsonville’s #4 hit a line drive by third to place runners on the corners. Johnsonville’s #7 hit one to left for a single and a rbi. After 3 ½ innings, Johnsonville was up 15-4.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Lake View’s #6 hit a grounder to short and was out at first. The Lady Wild Gators’ #17 hit a grounder over second for a single. Lake View’s #4 hit a fly to center and was out. Lake View’s #17 was thrown out attempting to steal second. After 4 innings of play, Johnsonville was up 15-4.
In the top of the fifth inning, Johnsonville’s #8 hit a fly to left for out 1. The Flashes’ #12 garnered a walk. Johnsonville’s #9 went down swinging. With the bases loaded, Johnsonville’s #2 hit 1 up the middle for a single and 2 rbi to give Johnsonville a 17-4 lead. Johnsonville’s #4 hit a fly to short to close out the top of the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Lake View’s #14 arrived safely on an error to short. The Lady Wild Gators’ #20 hit a grounder to short, and the base runner was out at second and the batter safe at first. Lake View’s #3 bunted and ended up on third with a runner crossing home plate. Lake View’s #2 hit a slow 1 to third and was out at first. The base runner on third was out at home to end the game.
Lake View will travel to Fairmont, N.C., on Friday, March 20, for a 6:30 p.m. game.
