The Loris Lady Lions defeated the Dillon Lady Wildcats 16-2 in the run-ruled, five-inning varsity softball game played in Dillon on Friday, April 24.
Loris jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added 3 runs in the second inning to go up 6-0. Dillon scored a run in the bottom of the second inning. Loris added 2 runs in the top of the third inning and 5 runs in the top of the fourth Dillon. The Lady Wildcats scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Loris added 3 runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Loris connected for 15 hits while holding Dillon to 3 hits.
Dillon’s Kanyla Tanksley had a double, a single, and 2 rbi in her 2 at-bats. Jayla Wright had a double and scored a run in her 2 at-bats.
Loris’ K. McCoy had 4 hits in the game including a triple, 3 singles, a walk, 2 rbi, and scored 5 runs in her 5 plate appearances. Riley Herring and Bellamie Gore each had 2 hits while H. Spence, Silver O’Rourke Dewitt, Brayleigh Wilson, Jessie Cartrette, Kaylee Gilbert, Haven Graham, and Caitie Black each had a hit.
Dillon committed 5 errors in the game while did not commit an error.
Jessie Cartrette pitched 5 innings and allowed 3 hits, 2 earned runs, walked no one, and struck out 6 of the 19 batters she faced.
Dillon’s Zoee Chavis pitched 2 innings and allowed 5 hits, 6 runs of which 2 were earned, walked 3, and struck out 2 of the 17 batters she faced. Jayla Wright pitched 2 innings and allowed 5 hits, 7 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 2, and struck out no one. Emorie Williamson pitched 1 inning and allowed 3 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 1, and struck out no one of the 7 batters she faced.
