Daniel Cabaniss, NRCS District Conservationist for the Marion District, Speaks To Dogwood Garden Club

The Dogwood Garden Club met on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the home of Susan Johnson. Eleven club members were in attendance.
President Susan Carter called the meeting to order. Chaplain Sue Tyler opened the meeting with prayer.
Secretary Susan Johnson called roll, which was answered by each member telling a memory from this past summer. Minutes from the May, 2024, meeting were approved as read.
Treasurer Kathy Rogers reported a balance of $285.15 in our bank account.

OLD BUSINESS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS
There was no old business.
There were no committee reports.

NEW BUSINESS
Members who are able will meet at 9:00 on Monday, September 15, to clean up the greenspace beside the Post Office.
Dues for 2026 may be paid anytime before the end of this calendar year.

PROGRAM
Linda Morrison introduced our guest speaker, Daniel Cabaniss, NRCS District Conservationist for the Marion District. He provided information on the Conservation Stewardship Program segment dealing with establishing pollinator habitats.
Susan Carter presented the Plant of the Month, a Desert Rose, which is a carefree perennial indoor plant with beautiful reddish pink flowers.
The door prize, a goody box containing 2 coffee mugs and office items, was won by Frances Godwin.
After a time of fellowship and refreshments, the meeting was adjourned.
