Alan Roberts Serves As Guest Conductor For All-City Middle School Chorus In Florence School District 1

Alan Roberts, a 2012 Latta High School graduate, was invited by Florence District 1 to serve as a Guest Conductor for the All-City Middle School Chorus Concert this past Friday.
He was invited by his former high school chorus teacher, Mrs. Megan Bolt, who teaches now at Moore Middle School.
Mr. Roberts is in his eighth year as Director of Choirs at Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia.
Under his direction, the choirs at Sprayberry have received Excellent and Superior ratings at GMEA’s Large Group Performance Evaluation, have received high placements in GHSA Regional and State Literary Meet competitions, and have been invited to perform in events such as the Family Kickstart Georgia Youth Expo and sports events at Georgia Tech University.

In the 2022-2023 school year, his choirs received 2nd Place awards in the Southern Invitational Choral Festival at Georgia Southern University and Grand Champion/Gold Ratings Awards at the Southern Star Music Festival. Mr. Roberts’ choirs have also been invited to perform at the 2023 Georgia conference of the American Choral Directors Association and the 2024 Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference.
Prior to Sprayberry, Mr. Roberts taught pre-kindergarten music classes at elementary schools in Atlanta. He is an active member of the Georgia Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the American Choral Directors Association.
In addition to his work at Sprayberry, Mr. Roberts is an active choral singer, and regularly performs in professional choral ensembles, church ensembles, and as a soloist in the Atlanta area. He received his Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, studying with Dr. Deanna Joseph and Dr. Joy Meade.
While at Georgia State, Mr. Roberts was a co-conductor of the chamber ensemble, Master Singers. He received the Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, studying choral music with Dr. Robert Taylor.
In his free time, Mr. Roberts enjoys playing video games, hiking along Atlanta’s great outdoor trails and mountains, and watching lots of television.
