More than 200 students, parents, educators, and community members gathered for the 2026 Leadership Roundup in Florence, held at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology (SiMT), for a high energy day focused on developing strong, confident leaders for the future.
The South Carolina 4 H Pinckney Leadership Program spearheads this annual event, which brings together middle and high school students from across the state for a full day of leadership development, collaboration, and inspiration. Each year, the event travels to two to three locations across South Carolina, including a stop right here in the Pee Dee region.
Designed to meet participants at every stage of their leadership journey, the Leadership Roundup featured engaging sessions tailored for middle school students, high school students, and adults who actively support and guide youth. Through interactive workshops, dynamic speakers, and meaningful discussions, attendees explored practical strategies to strengthen confidence, communication, and community impact.
During this year’s luncheon, Florence Mayor Lethonia Barnes presented an official proclamation recognizing 10 years of service and statewide impact by the South Carolina 4-H Pinckney Leadership Program. The recognition highlighted a decade of commitment to cultivating leadership and opportunity for young people across South Carolina.
The event also highlighted the continued partnership between SHE Is Me and the 4 H Pinckney Leadership Program. What began as a virtual collaboration during the height of COVID 19 in 2020 has grown into a strong and intentional alliance, with both organizations working together to expand leadership opportunities for youth across the state of South Carolina.
“This event is about more than leadership skills, it is about legacy,” said Tabitha D. James, Executive Director of SHE Is Me Mentoring Program. “We are creating spaces where young people can see what is possible, step into who they are, and lead with purpose in every room they enter.”
Throughout the day, students connected with peers, engaged with experienced leaders, and were challenged to think boldly about their future. The energy in the room reflected a shared commitment to growth, purpose, and community.
As Leadership Roundup continues to grow, it remains rooted in one mission: to equip young people with the tools, mindset, and support needed to lead in every space they enter.
