DCFD 4 was alerted for a 10-70 structure fire tonight on Dandelion Drive. E41 arrived to find a 15’x20’ metal barn with heavy fire and heat conditions. F3 established command and F2 had operations. Crews tried to make an initial push, but were turned back after multiple full propane cylinders were off gassing inside the barn from the intense heat and flames. Crews used water streams to cool cylinders til it was safe to remove them and then complete the extinguishment of existing fire. Crews were on scene for about a hour. All units cleared and returned to service. Floyd Dale Fire Department responded mutual aid with 2 engines and established water supply. 15 volunteers from multiple stations responded. Crews protected a nearby residence and kept fire to the original barn.
