The Latta Lady Vikings won 51-28 over the Lake View Lady Wild Gators on Thursday, February 12, in Lake View.
There was good attendance at this game between in-town rivals.
After an exciting first half, the Latta Lady Vikings pulled away in the latter moments of the third quarter.
Although Lake View controlled the tipoff, Latta scored first and built up a 6-point lead before Lake View’s offense got rolling. Lake View closed the gap to 2 points, 6-4. After the first quarter of play, Latta was up 9-6. Each team committed 2 fouls in the first quarter.
In the second quarter of play, Lake View knotted the score at 9. Lake View’s Sophia Rogers hit a 3 from the corner to take a 12-9 lead over the visiting Latta team. With 1:08 remaining in the second quarter, Lake View was up 14-13. With 39.9 seconds remaining in the first half, Latta’s Aliyah Tisdale sank a 2-point basket to give Latta a 1-point lead. At halftime, Latta led 15-14. Lake View committed 3 fouls in the second quarter, and Latta committed 2 fouls in the second quarter.
In the beginning of the third quarter, the score was close with Latta pulling ahead by 1 point or 3 points, but Lake View would tie the game. Latta began to slowly pull away until building up a 29-22 lead. After 3 quarters of play, Latta was up 29-23. Latta committed 5 fouls in the third quarter while Lake View committed 3 fouls.
In the fourth quarter, Latta’s pressure was too much for Lake View. However, Lake View did not back down from the challenge. Latta committed 2 fouls in the fourth quarter, and Lake View committed 4 fouls.
Latta’s Aliyah Tisdale led the Lady Vikings with 26 points. Kaliya Herman added 19 points. Jeziyah Page connected for 5 points. Summer Page and K. Page each had 2 points.
Latta is 17-4 overall and 11-1 in region play and in first place. Lake View is 10-7 overall and 8-4 in region play and in fourth place.
