Ziggy and his friends from SCETV (S.C. Educational Television) landed at The Village in Dillon on Friday to start a four-week adventure with children from the center and the community.
Ziggy is a character from a show on ETV that teaches children about art, music, and problem solving. Ziggy is a 9-year-old alien who couldn’t feel emotions like others on his planet. He hears sounds from Earth that make him feel something so he packs a snack, builds a rocket in his backyard, and flies it to earth where he lands in a Louisiana junkyard.
At the beginning of the program after a brief introduction, children enjoyed a lunch box from Chick-Fil-A with their choice of nuggets or chicken sandwiches. Then, the SCETV representative read a book called “Guess Who?” to the children who actively engaged with her during the reading of the book. Then they watched an approximately 15-minute episode of Ziggy, where they focused on observations, interpretations, imagination, and perspective. The episode featured photographer Adam Vo. After the episode and some discussion, the children worked on art projects. This educational series will continue on September 12, 19, and 26th.
