Volunteers Pick Up 780 Pounds Of Trash And Other Items At Dillon Community Clean-up

The Local Community Clean-up was held in Dillon on Saturday, June 29, from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
Registration was held from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Clean-up was from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with lunch provided by the Main Street Methodist Men at 1:30 a.m.
The group met at East Dillon Baptist Church for instructions and prayer with clean-up buckets, gloves, grabbers, vests, etc., provided by Harbor Freight. The City of Dillon also supplied help for the set-up and clean-up of the debris of bags afterwards.
Instructions were given to the 40 participants with emphasis on safety. Areas of clean-up were assigned, and the volunteers took to the streets to clean-up. They collected 80 bags of trash, tires, and other items totaling 780 lbs.
The Dillon Community Alliance and Palmetto Pride teamed up for this first-time event.
City of Dillon Mayor Tally McColl thanked everyone for showing up, East Dillon Baptist Church, the City of Dillon, the City of Dillon Police Chief David Lane, Harbor Freight, Dillon Community Alliance, Palmetto Pride, and churches including East Dillon Baptist Church, Mars Hill Baptist Church, New Faith Church, and Bethel AME Church.
