A group held a Tree Meeting at the City of Dillon Visitors Center on Thursday, April 17.
The group consisted of Ann Huyler with the S.C. Forestry Commission, Frances Tyler with the Yellow Jessamine Garden Club, Tom Knowles with the Green Infrastructure Center, Marsha Potter with the Green Infrastructure Center, City of Dillon Mayor Tally McColl, Stephanie Mitchell with the Dillon Community Alliance, and Pat Laird with the Dillon Garden Club. (Terry Hayes with the Yellow Jessamine Garden Club was not present.)
The meeting concerned the Trees for South Carolina Grant that was received by the Dillon Community Alliance. This group discussed the tree ordinances, the caring for the trees, tree canopy maps that determine where trees are missing, the planting of 150 to 200 trees, tree giveaways, and the eco systems that the trees provide.
This group needs community input as to where to plant the trees.
The S.C. Forestry Commission and Green Services and the USDA Forest Service and Commission are assisting in this project.
