The Town of Latta is proud to introduce Chief Donte’ L. Locklear as our new Chief of Police.
Chief Locklear brings more than eight years of progressive law enforcement experience, having served in both municipal and county agencies across North and South Carolina. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles including Captain with the McColl Police Department and Sergeant with the Lake City Police Department.
A graduate of Robeson Community College’s Law Enforcement Training program, Chief Locklear holds a South Carolina Class I Law Enforcement Certification along with specialized credentials in criminal investigations, DUI enforcement, narcotics enforcement, crisis intervention, and traffic safety. He is also a certified P.I.T. Instructor.
Chief Locklear’s leadership philosophy is built on accountability, officer development, strategic crime reduction, operational readiness, and strong community partnerships. He believes effective policing requires both proactive enforcement and transparent engagement with the citizens we serve.
Born and raised in Lumberton, North Carolina, Chief Locklear values faith, family, and service. He is committed to leading the Latta Police Department with professionalism, integrity, and measurable results.
