The Pernell Community Center presented their Dorm Ready Event 2024 on Saturday at the City of Dillon Wellness Center for college students who are going off to college or residing in student housing. In addition to the numerous items that students could collect, they had the opportunity to register for prizes. The Pearls of Promise and Purpose (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated) were on hand with bookbags for grades K-12 students and Gents & Ladies handed out notebook paper. The Latta Voter Registration Coalition was there to get students who were eligible registered to vote. CareSouth, Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assualt, and others were also present for the event. It was a wonderful event to get college students dorm ready and to get younger kids school ready with bookbags, paper, and other items.
