The Military Magnet Academy Lady Eagles defeated the Latta Lady Vikings 76-29 in the South Carolina High School League Lower State 1 A game played on Friday, February 27, at the Florence Civic Center.
The Lady Eagles began and ended the game with a face pace. With 4:11 remaining in the first quarter, Military Magnet Academy had built a 15-0 lead. With 3:48 remaining in the first quarter, Latta’s Aliyah Tisdale connected for a 2-point basket to place the Lady Vikings onto the scoreboard. With 1:27 remaining in the first quarter, the Lady Eagles were up 20-5. The Lady Eagles were up 25-5 after the first quarter of play. Military Magnet Academy committed 5 fouls in the first quarter while Latta committed 3 fouls.
With 6:04 remaining in the first half, the Lady Eagles were up 29-10. With 4:16 remaining in the first half, the Lady Eagles were up 33-12. Military Magnet Academy was up 37-12 with 3:11 remaining in the first half. At halftime, the Lady Eagles enjoyed a 39-19 lead. Military Magnet Academy committed 5 fouls in the second quarter. Latta committed 3 fouls.
After 3 quarters of play, the Lady Eagles were up 62-24. Each team committed 5 fouls.
In the final quarter of play, Military Magnet Academy committed 2 fouls, and Latta committed only 1 foul.
Latta ended the season with 20 wins and 5 losses and was 11-1 in region play.
We are proud of our Latta Lady Vikings who have given us some great memories. This team composed of Kaliya Herman, Ke’nyah Page, Jesiyah Page, Aliyah Tisdale. Ny’asia Jennings, Summer Page, Aubrey Williams, Eri’ana Crawford, Adlay Hyatt, Branyia Scott, and Za’Kiah Blakely should all return next year except for senior Kaliya Heman.
Latta’s Head Coach is Bobby Richardson. He is assisted by Tony McRae and Riana Green. The team statistician is Sandra Gomillion.
Military Magnet Academy has 25 wins and 4 losses (and is 6-0 in region 5 A play) will travel to Columbia for the SCHSL 1 A championship next weekend.
