Dillon Mayor Tally McColl signed a proclamation declaring February as a Congenital Heart Disease Awareness Month at Dillon Christian School on Friday, February 6th. The proclamation was signed in honor of William Howard Carr, III, who is affected by congenital heart disease.

In Honor of William Howard Carr III
Whereas, congenital heart disease is the most common type of birth defect, affecting approximately 1 in 100 babies born each year; and
Whereas, increased awareness and education about congenital heart disease can lead to earlier diagnoses, improved treatments, and enhanced quality of life for those affected; and
Whereas, the City of Dillon recognizes the importance of supporting individuals and families impacted by congenital heart disease, as well as the healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to studying, diagnosing, and treating this condition; and
Whereas, William Howard Carr III, a beloved member of our community, has shown remarkable strength and resilience in his journey with congenital heart disease, serving as an inspiration to others; and
Whereas, it is fitting and proper to honor William Howard Carr III and all individuals affected by congenital heart disease by dedicating the month of February to raising awareness and promoting heart health;
Now, therefore, I, N. Tally McColl, Mayor of the City of Dillon, do hereby proclaim February as Congenital Heart Disease Awareness Month in Dillon.
I urge all residents to learn more about congenital heart disease, support those living with this condition, and participate in activities and programs designed to raise awareness and funding for research and treatment.
