The Lake View Wild Gators edged the Johnsonville Flashes 6-5 in an extra inning in varsity baseball played in Lake View on Friday, March 13.
Lake View’s Bryce King started on the mound for the Wild Gators.
Johnsonville’s #9 hit one to left for a lead-off single and quickly stole second. He was thrown out attempting to steal third base for out 1. The Flashes’ #11 garnered a walk. He stole second. Johnsonville’s #17 went down swinging for out 2. The Flashes #1 garnered a walk and stole second. Johnsonville’s #10 hit a fly to right for out 3 to close out the top of the first inning.
Johnsonville’s #20 started on the mound for the Flashes.
Lake View’s Bryce King led off with a single to right. Landon King was hit by a pitch to place base runners at first and second. Ian Capps hit a grounder to first and was out but the base runners advanced to second and third.
Chase Price hit a grounder to second and made it safely to first on a throwing error while 2 runs crossed home plate to give Lake View a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
Johnsonville was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the second inning.
Johnsonville faced only 4 batters in the bottom of the second inning. After 2 innings, Lake View held a 2-0 lead.
Johnsonville’s #8 garnered a walk. He managed to move to second. The Flashes’ #11 hit a grounder to third that was bobbled, and he made it safely to first to place base runners on first and second. Johnsonville’s #17 punted safely to load the bases. The Flashes’ #1 hit a chopper over third that allowed 2 runs to cross home plate. After 2 ½ innings, the game was tied at 2.
Lake View’s Landon King led off with a single to the shortstop. Ian Capps hit a grounder to third and was out at first but King moved to second. King stole third. Chase Price punted safely, and King scored to give Lake View a 3-2 lead.
Lake View’s Landon King had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with a walk-off double, 2 rbi, 3 runs, and 2 hits by a pitch. Thad Lovette had a double and single in 4 at-bats. Bryice King had a single, scored 2 runs, and garnered a walk. Ian Capps had a double in 4 at-bats with 1 rbi. Colten Moody and Zaiden Burroughs each had a hit in 4 at-bats. Chase Price had 3 rbi and garnered a walk. Peyton Ford scored a run.
Lake View’s Bryce King pitched 6 innings and allowed 5 hits, struck out 8, and had a 0 ER. Ian Capps pitched 1 inning and allowed 1 hit and 1 earned run. Holden Lee pitched 1 inning and allowed 1 hit with 0 earned run for the win.
3-2 Lake View will host Hemingway on Tuesday, March 17, in a double header beginning at 5:00 p.m.
3-2 Johnsonville will travel to Hannah Pamplico on Tuesday, March 17, for a 6:00 p.m. game.
