Judge James E. Lockemy To Speak On Hulin’s Mill and The Killing Of Kourtney at EPAC on March 4th

Please join Judge James E. Lockemy, former Chief Judge on the South Carolina Court of Appeals, for a discussion of the Revolutionary War as it raged in what is now Dillon County, South Carolina, at the Ellis Performing Arts Center in Latta on Tuesday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m.
Judge Lockemy will focus his discussion on Hulin’s Mill & The Killing of Kourtney. Lockemy said, “The importance of our state in this conflict and the clashes that occurred here were crucial in the ultimate victory of America. An interesting fact, after the battles had ended and peace declared, many around Latta refused to stop fighting. This led to continued conflict even after the war was over and independence won.”
This will be a free event sponsored by the Latta Schools Educational Foundation.
This event is part of the Dillon County 250 Committee’s observation of America 250. America 250 is a nonpartisan initiative working to engage every American in commemorating and celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Semiquincentennial.
