Hanahan edged Dillon 7-6 on Friday, May 15, in varsity softball playoff action played in Hanahan.
Hanahan came from behind to edge Dillon in this closely contested battle on the softball field.
Dillon started the game with 2 runs scored in the top of the first inning and added a run in the top of the second, and added 3 runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead. However, Hanahan scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, added 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth, added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at 6, and added a final and decisive run in the bottom of the seventh inning for the win.
Dillon connected for 12 hits in the game while Hanahan had 10 hits.
Dillon’s Jayla Wright had a double, a single, and a rbi in her 3 at-bats. K. Tanksley had a single, 2 sacrifice bunts, scored a run, and stole a base in her 4-plate appearances. Makeena Meekins had a single and was hit by a pitch in her 4-plate appearances. A. Villagomez had 2 singles and a rbi in her 4 at-bats.
Dillon committed 2 errors in the game, and Hanahan committed 1 error.
Dillon’s Jayla Wright pitched 5.1 innings and allowed 7 hits, 6 runs of which 1 was earned, walked 1, and struck out 5 of the 25 batters she faced. Zoee Chavis pitched .2 inning and allowed 3 hits, 1 earned run, and struck out 1 of the 5 batters she faced.
