The grand opening of the new location of the Dillon County Pregnancy Center at 300 North Fourth Avenue, Dillon.
Pastor Jamie Arnette said this house had flooded during one of the hurricanes, but that some of the Dillon First Baptist Church members labored to get the work done, fixed the building, and made it available for this ministry. In his prayer, Pastor Arnette asked God to bless this place and this ministry and to bless those who have given their time, energy, and effort to this ministry and those who have supported it with their financial donations. He prayed that they will have a Christ-centered focus and that their ministry would be used to save the lives of unborns.
Dillon Mayor Tally McColl thanked the members of Dillon First Baptist Church and volunteers. He said this was an “amazing facility” that embodies the Christian beliefs that they try to foster in the community. Mayor McColl said that God has his purpose for every life and that every life is important and should be cherished.
Dillon County Council Councilwoman Detrice Dawkins said this was more than just a building, it is a symbol of hope. She said as a leader, mother, and woman in the community, she knows how important it is to have access to resources and education. She said this facility was an answered prayer for many in the community.
Councilwoman Dawkins said that she hoped this would be a place where lives are changed, hope is restored, and loves leads the way.
Herb Jacobs of the Dillon County Chamber of Commerce said this was a movement to a new building. He said that a family is the bedrock of a stable and progressive society. He welcomed them on behalf of the Chamber. After the remarks, guests went in to tour the facility and enjoy refreshments.
