Dillon VFW Veterans Quarterly Luncheon Held

The Dillon VFW held a luncheon for the veterans at Latta Baptist Church on Friday, July 11, from noon until 2:00 p.m.
Everyone participated in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The VFW Junior Vice Commander Tommy Hayes welcomed everyone and thanked everyone for being at the event. A special thank you was offered to Latta Baptist Church for hosting this event. After the blessing of the food, the veterans received a complimentary meal prepared by The Bailey Boys BBQ along with valuable information about various entitlements and benefits.
After the delicious meal and fellowship, there were several guest speakers including Ms. Valerie Graves of the Dillon County Veteran Affairs Officer, the S.C. VFW Department Service Officer Mr. John Johnson, Ms. Shalawn Backstrom of the Nurse Manager Program Director—Home-Based Primary Care Columbia VA Health Care System, and S.C. Works Career Coach Mr. Derrick Moody.
The veterans in attendance had the opportunity to speak with experts who could assist with military disability claims, VA healthcare eligibility and enrollment, employment opportunities, and other resources that are available to veterans and their families in South Carolina.
The closing remarks were by Commander Joey Williams of the Dillon VFW.
The Dillon VFW Dillon Post 6091 is located at 2042 Hwy. 9 East, Dillon, S.C.
