The Dillon VFW recognized local students Charrish Ann Hooks (Dillon Schools) and Raya Adams (Latta Schools) at its 2/13/2025 Post meeting for their patriotic essays on democracy. Charrish Ann Hooks competed and won at the Post level with her Voice of Democracy essay. The VOD essay 2024-25 theme for students grades 9-12 – “Is America Today our Forefathers Vision?” Raya Adams competed and won at the Post level with her Patriots Pen essay. The PP essay 2024-25 theme for students grades 6-8 – “My Voice in America’s Democracy?” Both winners will now compete at the VFW District level, and if successful, move on to the state and National VFW levels.
