Dillon Lady Wildcats Defeat Beaufort, 6-3

The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the Beaufort Lady Eagles 6-3 in Beaufort on Wednesday, May 1.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Arianna Smith connected to put the Eagles on the scoreboard.
The Lady Wildcats responded with 2 runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead when Haiden Eller hit into a fielder’s choice and a run scored and Cierra Grice singled and picked up a rbi.
The Lady Eagles fought back and added a run in the bottom of the fifth when Kylie Rast tripled and a run scored to knot the score at 2.
Ali Aiken singled for the Lady Eagles in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Beaufort a 3-2 lead.
The Wildcats regained the lead in the top of the seventh inning when Makeena Meekins tripled and a run score, Makayla Huggins homered that scored 2 runs, and another run scored to give Dillon a 6-3 lead.
The Wildcats’ Cierra Grice had a triple, a single, a walk, a rbi, and scored a run in her 4 plate appearances. Makeena Meekins had a triple, a single, a rbi, stole a base, and scored a run in her 3 at-bats. Makayla Huggins had a homer, a single, 2 rbi, and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. Mariah Campbell had 2 hits, a walk, scored a run, and stole 3 bases in her 4 plate appearances. Haiden Eller picked up a rbi. C. Grider garnered a walk. Alyssa Lee was hit by a pitch, stole 2 bases, and scored a run in the game. W. Hughes stolen a base.
The Lady Eagles’ Kylie Rast had a hit, was hit by a pitch, and picked up a rbi in her 4 at-bats. Arianna Smith and Ali Aiken each had a hit and a rbi in 3 at-bats. S. Waldorf and C. Adkins each had a hit in 3 at-bats.
Paige Sherman performed well on the mound for 7 innings and struck out 13, walked only 1, and allowed 5 hits, and 3 runs of which only 1 was earned to pick up the win.
Kylie Rast took the loss for the Lady Eagles. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 8 hits, 6 earned runs, walked 3, and struck out 14.
Each team committed 2 errors in the game.
Dillon advanced to play Lake City on Friday, May 3, in Dillon.
