The Dillon Wildcats edged the Waccamaw Warriors 4-3 in varsity baseball playoffs in Dillon on Saturday, May 15, played at the Dillon Memorial Stadium.
Dillon jumped out to an early 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning. In the top of the third inning, Waccamaw placed 3 runs onto the scoreboard to tie the game at 3. Dillon placed a run onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning to go up 4-3. Neither team could score again as the final result was Dillon 4 and Waccamaw 3.
The Warriors managed 8 hits in the game. Waccamaw’s #2, T. Kerns had a double, a single, and scored a run in his 4 at-bats. E. Johnson, #5, had a single in his 3 at-bats. #6, H. Paul, had 2 singles, scored a run, and stole a base in his 3 at-bats. #9, C. Paul, scored a run. C. Dunn, #10, had a double and 3 rbi in his 4 at-bats. C. Glasso, #11, had a single and a walk in his 4-plate appearances.
Dillon had 4 hits in the game and did not commit an error.
The Warriors’ T. Kerns, #2, pitched 5 innings and allowed 3 hits, 1 earned run, walked 3, and struck out 6 of the 22 batters he faced. N. Carter, #3, pitched 1 inning and allowed 1 hit, 3 unearned runs, and struck out 1 of the 7 batters he faced.
Dillon has 15 wins and 6 losses.
Waccamaw has 14 wins and 15 losses.
