Dillon County Council Elects 2025 Chairman and Vice-Chairman

The Dillon County Council voted on the new chairman and vice-chairman for 2025. Stevie Grice, who has been on council since 2015, won chairman in a 7-0 vote.
This is the fifth time that Grice has held chairman. He also held the position of vice-chairman twice before. Grice said he appreciated the confidence of council in voting for him for chairman.
Dennis Townsend, who came on council in the fall of 2022, won in a 5-2 vote. Detrice Dawkins got one vote, and Brad Coward got one vote. This is the only vote of council done by secret ballot.
The votes were recorded and read by Council Clerk Druscilla Blakely.
After the vote, 2024 Chairwoman Detrice Dawkins passed the gavel to 2025 Chairman Stevie Grice. 2024 Chairwoman Dawkins passed the plaque designating the vice-chairman to Councilman Dennis Townsend.
