Benji Long To Be Recognized As Special First Responder At Annual Patriot Day Ceremony

Benji Long of the Dillon County Station 2 Fire Department will be recognized as a special first responder at the Dillon County South Carolina Veterans of the Year Organization (DCSCVOYO) annual Patriot Day ceremony, which will be held on the steps of the Dillon County Courthouse on Thursday, 9/11 at 9 a.m.
Benji Long, a lifelong native of Dillon County, began his public safety service in 2008. He started as a volunteer with the City of Dillon Fire Department. In 2010, he also began a career with the City of Florence Fire Department where he served for over seven years as a firefighter and relief driver. When Benji and his family moved to Latta in 2012, he transferred to Dillon County station 2 where he continues to serve present day. In addition to serving in public safety, Benji is also a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard where he has served for over 16 years as a UH-60 Blackhawk pilot. He has been deployed on two combat rotations to Iraq. His current occupation continues the legacy of service now serving as an EMS helicopter pilot with Med Trans operating for Cape Fear Valley. This level of service would not have been possible without the unwavering support of his wife Stephanie, and their four children, Josiah, Kyleigh, Jacob, and Levi.
Please come out for this program on Thursday.
