Allan Rogers was presented with a Senate certificate by Senator Kent Williams recognizing his 35+ years of service in law enforcement.
Rogers began his service with the Latta Police Department being hired by then mayor, Buzzy Finklea. He became a certified officer after graduating in the top 5 percent of his class at the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy.
After leaving Latta, Rogers served in the City of Mullins before joining the Marion County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy. He worked his way through the ranks, eventually becoming a detective, a grant-writer, and a Chief Deputy.
As Chief Deputy, Rogers helped to bring K-9 units, vehicle computers, Sheriffs motorcycles unit and a substation for the force into Marion County.
Later, Rogers returned to Dillon to the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, where he attained the position of Captain.
Rogers also served with the United States Marshal’s Office as a Special Deputy on the Fugitive Task Force for 15 years. After retiring, Rogers became an Investigator with the South Carolina 4th Judicial Circuit Court. He now serves as a part-time policeman in Latta.
