Miss Genesis Anderson and Mr. Dylan Rogers Exchange Wedding Vows

On the eighth of June in two thousand and twenty-four, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny and Connie Anderson of Latta announce the marriage of their daughter, Genesis Anderson of Latta, to Dylan Rogers of Lake View, the son of Charles (Bubba) and Marsha Rogers. The wedding took place at The Southern Dream Wedding Venue in Gibson, North Carolina with Harold Cooke officiating. The wedding was sweet and spiritual in every way. It was the couple’s desire to honor their Savior, Jesus Christ, in every aspect that day and remind witnesses in attendance that “we love, because He first loved us.”

Genesis was born and reared in Latta, South Carolina. She attended Charleston Southern University earning a degree in Middle Grades Education. Genesis currently works at Latta Middle School where she’s been a 7th/8th grade math teacher for three years as well as the Latta High School head volleyball coach for one year. Genesis is currently obtaining her Masters of Education from The University of South Carolina, Columbia.
Dylan was born and reared in Lake View, South Carolina. He attended Coastal Carolina University and The University of South Carolina, Columbia earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. Dylan currently works at Marlboro Pee Dee Electric Cooperative where he just began his job as an electrical engineer.
When you’re from small town South Carolina, you’re bound to know almost everyone. Through several intertwining connections, the couple has always known each other (even if they were from rival small towns). It wasn’t until two persistent mothers encouraged a bold Instagram message that two acquainted individuals came to truly know and love one another. March 13th, 2020 (the day the world shut down due to Covid-19) was their first date to Chick-Fil-A and the movies. After three years of coffee dates, Bible studies, USC football games, one half marathon, and spending time with their sweet goldendoodle Exodus, Dylan proposed on March 11th, 2023.
The wedding planning began with the help of Harold and Tammy Cooke. Harold, pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, provided spiritual guidance and advised the couple through premarital counseling to later officiate the wedding day. Tammy assisted in planning and organizing the many details that precede a wedding. The couple was celebrated through many showers and parties prior to the wedding hosted by the following: Mount Calvary Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Lake View, Latta Middle School, and close family and friends.
The Matrons of Honor were Hannah Jackson (Manning), and Laura Bense (Honolulu, HI). The bridesmaids were Kaylie Miller (Sellers), Savannah Miller (Sellers) and Ashley Daniels (Marion). The junior bridesmaids were Maddy Miller (Sellers, SC) and Abigail King (Florence). The flower girl was Ava Heffernan (Ocean Isle Beach, NC).
The Best Man was Charles (Bubba) Rogers (Lake View). The groomsmen were Josh Fugate (Sumter), Will Daniels (Marion), Jacob Brown (Sumter) and Patrick Bradley (Columbia). The junior groomsmen were Lawson Floyd (Lake View) and Aidan Heffernan (Ocean Isle Beach, NC). The bride and groom did not have a ring bearer, but chose to have their parents and grandparents pray over each ring before the exchange of rings.
The ceremonial singing was provided by Jamey and Paula Collins (Conway). Additionally, ceremony and reception music was provided by James Jackson with Play That One DJ, LLC (Whiteville, NC). Other participants in the wedding included Lexi Haselden and Gracie Langston.

The couple celebrated their wedding weekend at The Southern Dream Venue in Gibson, North Carolina. The wedding ceremony and reception were filled with heartfelt personal touches that made the day truly memorable. The bride honored her family’s legacy by wearing her late grandmother’s ring (Betty Anderson Falls), while the groom did the same with his late grandfather’s ring (Claude Walters Rogers), symbolizing the deep roots and connections to their heritage. During the ceremony, parents, grandparents, and close witnesses gathered around the couple to pray and worship, creating a deeply spiritual and emotional moment. The Unity Cross ceremony item further highlighted their commitment to a Christ-centered marriage. At the reception, the couple’s unique tastes were evident with signature drinks of Coca-Cola and Cheerwine, a nod to their favorite beverages. Guests delighted in a vibrant taco and dessert bar, catering to all tastes. As a thoughtful touch, the couple provided thrifted coffee mugs as party favors, each one unique and carefully chosen. The evening was punctuated with touching dances, including a father-daughter dance (where all fathers and daughters were invited to dance), a fun mother-daughter dance, and a sweet mother-son dance, celebrating family bonds and love. These personal elements came together to create a warm, intimate atmosphere that truly reflected the couple’s values and personalities.
