The City of Dillon Fire Department hosted its annual Christmas party on Friday, December 12, 2025, at The Peddler Steak House. The event brought together firefighters, their wives, and special guests for an evening of holiday fellowship and appreciation. Commonly known as “Ladies Night,” the annual gathering is held to honor the wives of the department’s firefighters for their continued support and understanding.
The celebration included a holiday meal, fellowship among members and their families, and attendance by several City of Dillon leaders. Special guests included City Manager Burt Rogers, Mayor Tally McColl, City Councilman Chip Huggins and his wife Anita, and City Finance Director Janet Bethea and her husband, Buddy. Each expressed their appreciation to the firefighters and their families for their dedication and service to the community.
Several firefighters were recognized during the evening with service awards honoring their years of commitment to the department. Award recipients included:
• Jeff Bethea – 35 years of service
• Ryan Berry – 20 years of service
• Daniel Moody – 15 years of service
• Jackson McKenzie – 5 years of service
• Austin Moody – 5 years of service
Fire Chief Keith Bailey emphasized the importance of family support within the department. “Our wives and families play a huge role in what we do,” Bailey said. “This night is about showing our appreciation for everything they give.”
The evening also honored Fire Engineer Donnie R. Grimsley, Sr., who retired after 36 years of dedicated service. Grimsley was presented with a fire helmet signed by his fellow firefighters, as well as a plaque presented by Mayor Tally McColl and City Manager Burt Rogers.
