DJ Rowell, the star, creator, and producer of “The Love Doctor” movie and the DJ Rowell Foundation returned to McLeod Health in Dillon again this to deliver numerous backpacks for children and plenty of Christmas cheer as part of his annual Christmas Backpack giveaway.
He was joined by his mother, Phylishia Rowell, an OB nurse in Dillon, Samantha Cruz, an executive producer for “The Love Doctor,” and Pamela McDonald, Director of Merchandise & Engagement, for the presentation.

DJ and friends packed the backpacks on Friday night at the Foxes Tales Bookstore in Marion and delivered the backpacks to Florence and Dillon today (Monday).
DJ is no stranger to helping the community. The DJ Rowell Foundation partners with area hospitals presenting hospitalized children with backpacks full of toys and other items. This is the sixth year the Foundation has visited McLeod Dillon with a donation. They also hold an annual basketball camp, The DJ Rowell Foundation Rockem Experience Camp, in the summer. This past Saturday, he took five children, who attended his camp, to Target for a Christmas shopping spree. These are just some of the ways he gives back to the community.
DJ often quotes this famous saying, “If you want to go fast go alone, or you want to go far go together!” It is this belief, his heart for young people, and his desire for helping the community that will inspire and encourage him to continue to do great things for the area.
