Veterans Day Program Scheduled For November 11th

The 2025 Dillon Veterans Day program will be at 11:00 a.m on Veterans Day, Tuesday 11/11/2025, at Veterans Square located at 401 West Main Street. This patriotic program is presented by the Dillon County SC Veterans of the Year Organization and opens with welcoming remarks by the DCSCVOYO Commander Thom Thompson, City of Dillon Mayor Tally McColl, and County Council Chairman Stevie Grice. The Dillon High School Army JROTC cadets will Post the Colors, and Rev. Matthew D. Adams of First Presbyterian Church Dillon will give the invocation. Deputy Sheriff James Crawford and other members of the Carolina Master Chorale will sing God Bless America and our National Anthem. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 32 Girls State Delegate Class of 2025 Shayla Johnson will lead those gathered in the Pledge of Allegiance. Program Speaker Mr. Thomas Dry Howie II will talk about WW-II and his uncle Army Major Thomas Dry Howie at the Battle for Saint-Lô, Normandy, France. A memorial wreath will be ceremoniously placed in front of the Memorial Wall in honor of all who have served in the military protecting our constitution and defending our American values. The DCSCVOYO will announce the name of the 2025 Veteran of the Year. The DCSCVOYO Commander Thom Thompson invites all our citizenry to attend this Veterans Day patriotic program and be part of this time to honor our Veterans and active-duty military for their patriotic service to America. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 32 will provide refreshments following the program.
