Donated Vehicle Has Special Meaning For Department Where It Came From And To The Recipient

A donated vehicle by Dillon County has special meaning for the department where it came from and for the receiver. The Dillon County Fire Station Two’s (Latta) old service truck was donated to the Jackson Winkeler Foundation.
Winkeler was a member of the Dillon County Station Two Fire Department and was known for his love of children. This vehicle was in service while he was on the department.
The truck will be used to transport the foundation’s juice box racers used at the Lake View Motor Speedway for kids to experience the thrill of racing.
“I think it is absolutely fantastic that the Winkeler Foundation can use this vehicle to haul cars for kids,” said Dillon County Fire Station Two Chief Andy Britt. “I am glad they were able to use it for this purpose.”
The Jackson Winkeler Foundation is also pleased. “Having the former Latta Fire Department vehicle now carrying our Juicebox and Drifters is special to us,” said Paige Smith, a part of the foundation. “It continues its legacy of service–now by helping us bring joy to kids and keep Jackson’s memory alive.”
Winkeler, a 26-year-old Florence Regional Airport office, died serving in the line of duty on January 5, 2020.
