The City of Dillon opened the youth tackle football program on Tuesday, September 3, at 6:00 p.m. with the 9- and 10-year-old teams playing on the City of Dillon Recreational Fields located near the S.C. National Guard Armory off Hwy. 34.
There are between 85 and 90 players participating in the tackle football this season. Additionally, there are 3 flag football teams. The games are tentatively scheduled on Monday and Tuesday each week.
The first game of the new season featured the Farm Bureau vs Mike McRae & Son Landscaping.

After the tossing of the coin, Mike McRae & Son Landscaping received the kickoff. They turned the football over on downs, and the Farm Bureau team wasted no time in scoring as #5 scored from 29 yards for the first touchdown of the new tackle football season in Dillon. #58 rushed for the 2-point conversion to go up 8-0.
On the next series of plays, Mike McRae & Son Landscaping fumbled the football, and Farm Bureau recovered on the 45-yard line of Mike McRae & Son Landscaping. With 3:27 remaining in the first quarter, Farm Bureau’s #5 scored. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Farm Bureau led 14-0.
The Mike McRae & Son Landscaping team returned the kickoff to the 49-yard line of the Farm Bureau team but fumbled on the first play, and Farm Bureau recovered the football at the 50-yard line.
This time the Mike McRae & Son Landscaping team defense prevailed and took control of the football on the 47-yard line.
Farm Bureau held a 14-0 lead after the first quarter of play.
Farm Bureau took over on the 46-yard line.
With 3:56 remaining in the first half, Farm Bureau’s #5 scored a 51-yard touchdown. Farm Bureau’s #58 rushed for the 2-point conversion. At halftime, Farm Bureau was up 22-0.
Farm Bureau managed to get a safety with 2:52 remaining in the game to go up 24-0.
Farm Bureau was the 24-0 winner of the first game of the season.
