A wreck on February 26th claimed the life of a Dillon County woman.
According to Lance Corporal Lena Butler of the S.C. Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Pee Dee Church Road, near Lester Road, approximately five miles east of Dillon.
The driver of Unit #1 was driving a 2009 Toyota Scion and was the only occupant. The driver of Unit #1 was injured and was airlifted to McLeod Regional Medical Center.
The driver of Unit #2 was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima and was the only occupant. The driver of Unti #2 succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene. Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley identified the woman as Ann Hamer, a 71-year-old black female from Dillon County. He said she died as a result of injuries from a motor vehicle crash.
Lance Corporal Butler said that Unit #1 was traveling westbound on Pee Dee Church Road. Unit #2 was traveling eastbound on Pee Dee Church Road and went left of center. Unit #2 and Unit #1 collided causing the wreck.
